Invicta FC 16 official

Well fight fans, the wait is over.

Invicta Fighting Championships confirmed the bout order for Invicta FC 16, which takes place March 11.

In the main event, Invicta atomweight champion and Japan’s own Ayaka Hamasaki makes her first title defense against Amber Brown, who spent 2015-16 solidifying her claim to the title with three wins, including back-to-back submission wins.

What was rumored to be a tournament has turned into an interim flyweight title bout between Vanessa Porto and Jennifer Maia. After defeating Roxanne Modafferi, Porto asked for a title shot. Maia is returning to the Invicta cage after picking up wins in Brazilian promotions.

It doesn’t matter what Jim Cornette think

I’ve been wondering how to approach this whole “Jim Cornette trashes ‘Lucha Underground’” situation that happened a while ago.

For those of you who don’t remember or don’t know, Cornette, a legendary wrestling manager – one of the best when it came to pissing you off – threw “Lucha Underground” under the bus, calling it many derogatory names and saying it’s not professional wrestling. I’m not going to post Cornette’s tirade on here but if you really want to hear it, you can look it up.

Many fans and writers put Cornette on blast, saying he’s out of touch with today’s wrestling, which is probably true. You could watch some of the old Smoky Mountain Wrestling episodes and you’d think he was out of touch with wrestling back then, and SMW was made in 1993.

Vanessa Porto vs. Jennifer Maia interim title bout was the right call

Until yesterday fans didn’t know much about Invicta FC 16, which takes place March 16, though there was speculation there would be a one-night tournament to crown an interim flyweight champion to give current titleholder Barb Honchak some time off. When Invicta Fighting Championships unveiled their card, there was no tournament, but instead an interim flyweight title match between Vanessa Porto and Jennifer Maia in the co-headliner.

I’ve said this before, I love tournaments and the idea of a one-night tourney made me excited for Invicta FC 16, I think Porto vs. Maia is the right call.

Deadpool in MMA

Last night I went and saw “Deadpool” and I loved it. I’ll leave my review at that.

I’m not the only one as the movie featuring the Merc with the Mouth is breaking all kinds of box office records.

“Deadpool” featured a lot of great things, including the over-the-top fight scenes and MMA superstar Gina Carano. The character Deadpool is one of the most dangerous assassins in the Marvel Universe and I think he’d bring a lot to combat sports.

Deadpool is an expert at martial arts, especially when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. He can come up close and land some really good shots.
