Cage Pages: Brock Lensar Does Not Need to Fight Again

Note: This is a column I wrote after UFC 200 and before Brock Lesnar’s drug testing failures.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made a successful return to the octagon at UFC 200.

In the co-main event, Lesnar, who had been away from the octagon for five years, earned a decision over K-1 World Grand Prix champion and title challenger Mark Hunt.

Decision is kind of an understatement as Lesnar used his wrestling to take Hunt to the canvas and managed to unleash some of his devastating ground-and-pound. While former champions like Frank Mir and Randy Couture fell to the Beast’s power, Hunt – who has one of the best chins in combat sports – withstood the barrage and survived the 15 minutes.

Although it had been years since Lesnar was away from the octagon, it was like he hadn’t taken a day off from the sport – and perhaps the most interesting thing about the fight was he appeared to be having fun.
