Strawweight prospect Danielle Taylor will take a big step in her mixed martial arts career when she faces rising star Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night 92 in August.
Taylor, who hails from Pendale, California, has made a name for herself in the King of the Cage promotion. Turning pro in 2014, she won her first five fights, including a first-round submission win over Nikki Lowe and a split-decision win over Glena Avila to win the KOTC strawweight title. She suffered her first loss in 2015 when Jamie Colleen knocked her out to win the KOTC strawweight bout.
Taylor rebounded from the loss and won her next two bouts – a first-round TKO finish over Calie Cutler and a fifth-round stoppage over Colleen where she not only recaptured her strawweight title, but also avenged the previous loss.
Taylor went 4-1 as an amateur. Before she dropped to 115, she won the KTOC amateur flyweight title from Rachael Smith in her third fight.
This is a good sign for the UFC. She’s an up-and-comer who is well-rounded and already has some accolades under her belt.
