I’ve been a little late when it comes to Pokemon Go. My mother bought me a new phone to play the game.

I’ve been playing the game on and off since last night and I’m having a lot of fun with it. I decided to eschew the traditional starters and selected Pikachu. Like the generation one games, I’ve caught plenty of Rattatas, Pidgeys and Spearow – but also others like Paras and Eevees.

Living near Eastern Washington University, I’ve been catching Pokemon left and right as well as picking up items at local Pokestops. I’ll walk around the campus grounds every once in a while, but the game gave me a chance to see what Pokemon are lurking on campus. So far I’ve caught Pidgeys, Rattatas and Paras.

What’s also kind of fun is I’ll be sitting at my desk and I’ll catch wild Pokemon. This morning I started off the day with a Rhyhorn. When I went to the store for dinner, I caught a Diglet and a Growlithe.

After I hit level 5, I picked Team Valor. This was partially due to irritate my coworkers Clairebear (who is a member of Team Instinct) and JMyers (Team Mystic). I’m also an alum of EWU and I proudly wear red. The gyms around here are pretty powerful. There are a couple of Team Mystics in my area and one Valor gym near Roos Field.

So far my plan is to get Pokemon strong enough to take on gyms. I’ll probably have one of each Pokemon to fill out the dex and I don’t really plan on keeping duplicates.

It’s a fun game so far and I’m looking forward to do more exploring.
