Note: This is a piece I wrote for DiMoroSports, giving my reaction to UFC 208.
UFC 208 was touted as an event that would make history – and it certainly did that, but I’m not referring to Germaine de Randamie defeating Holly Holm to become the promotion’s first women’s featherweight champion.
Throughout the evening there were moments where fans cheered for joy, others where they booed and some that had people scratching their heads. Even as I was sipping on a Coor’s Light, eating some buffalo mac n’ cheese and keeping an eye on the fight poster I had just won in a raffle – putting the icing on a cake that was a good evening – I found myself conflicted on how to feel about the event. There were numerous moments where I cheered, shook my head and went “huh?”
