Note: This a column I wrote for Creators in response to the Pokemon Direct announcement.
Alola trainers, I’m sure many of you watched Tuesday’s Pokemon Direct announcement. I did, just before I left for work.
And I have to admit, the full plate of Pokemon news we got in that eight minutes was pretty exciting – three games that will come in 2017: Pokken Tournament DX for the Nintendo Switch (Sept. 22), Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS (Nov. 17) and Pokemon Gold and Silver for the 3DS eShop the same day Pokken drops.
I know there are some trainers out there who were a little disappointed with the announcement, mainly because they didn’t quite get what they wanted – a seventh generation Pokemon game for the Switch – Pokemon Star(s) – or a remake of Diamond and Pearl. Don’t get me wrong, both of those would have been great and I’m sure we’ll get one or the other someday, but I think people who are upset about the recent Pokemon news aren’t looking at the positives.
All three new games that were revealed during the announcement will bring some fun and excitement to the table and trainers will enjoy them if they’re given the chance.
